We have just received an exciting update on the status of the school build: the roofing on the school building has been completed and materials for windows and doors have been procured. Installations of these materials can be correctly done inline with finishing phase.
Schools were closed starting in March due to COVID-19 and since then the children have not been able to learn by any means. There is no internet learning program for the children and there is a huge challenge to get Internet access to begin with. Sierra Leone is almost about to be COVID-19 epicenter due to its daily increase in number of confirmed cases.
Roofing on the school building is ongoing and will be completed in few days time.
Thanks to our generous donors, our school build is proceeding well as evidenced by these wonderful photos. The elevation has been completed from foundation to wall height. The beams and lintels have also been completed. Please consider an additional donation to assist us in completing this project in a timely fashion.
The excavation has been completed and block work at foundation level has started at the school building site. Here are some wonderful pictures of the progress.
Here’s an update from Finda Kamara, the orphanage founding director: The children in the orphanage are doing great and had a pleasant 2019 Christmas and a happy end of year celebrations. They had fun with each other and enjoyed the end of year activities with support from SLAM committee and Jericho Road Ministry. The children have started attending school since schools reopened on the 6th January, 2020.
We want you to know the results of your kind and generous support. Because of you, over 40 orphans are now receiving food, accommodation, education and love. They are so grateful. Also, because of special additional donations from some individuals we are able to fund advanced university medical training for Abraham, one of the first orphans initially helped by SLAM. The following is a message he recently sent to our committee.
God bless you and the entire team. I’m really grateful to all of you. I don’t know without Jason and you guys what should have been my future. May God reward you for taking away my tears. Please extend my sincere appreciation to the team. I just wish one day I will have the opportunity to do this myself in person, though words cannot describe exactly the joy you guys has given through Christ. Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday. Much love to you all
– Abraham
Thank you to everyone for your prayers, for your ongoing support and also for the special donations which have made Abraham’s university training a reality. His hard work and leadership is giving hope to many other orphans who will contribute to helping Sierra Leone become more self-sufficient.
We continue to work toward our vision of having a school built to complement the orphanage. Any support you can give is greatly appreciated.

The SLAM Advisory and Fund raising Committee is a volunteer group, receiving no remuneration.
Donors to the SLAM Orphanage receive an income tax deductible Canadian charitable Tax receipt.
With extremely low administrative costs, over 97% of donations go directly to the orphanage.
Ride along with ADW co/founder and volunteer Jason Dudek and make the drive from Kono Hotel to the SLAM orphanage in Eastern Sierra Leone. This video is a striking audio-visual presentation of the state of Sierra Leone’s diamond mining capital which was at the epicentre of the country’s decade long civil war.
